It’s never too early to start raising money for a citywide race, right? Some Democrat is already looking to hire a finance director for a citywide campaign, according to a help-wanted ad I just received from JobsThatAreLeft, which distributes ads to Democratic and progressive operatives.
I’m not sure who the candidate is, but the next citywide election will be in…2013.
Here’s the ad:
New York City Democratic candidate for citywide office is looking for
a reliable, entrepreneurial and self-motivated individual with prior
fundraising management experience, strong organizational skills, and
exceptional attention to detail. Prior political campaign fundraising
experience in New York City preferred.
o Prior experience either as a Deputy Finance Director or Finance
Director on congressional, statewide, citywide or top-targeted race
o Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university
o Experience with writing and executing a finance plan
o Strong familiarity with NGP and Microsoft Excel
o Proven ability to write persuasive fundraising solicitations
o Write and implement fundraising plan
o Work with treasurer and compliance attorneys to manage campaign cash flow
o Oversee and execute candidate call time
o Plan fundraising events, including recruiting hosts and finance
committee, printing and mailing invitations, and soliciting donors
o Coordinate and enforce candidate’s fundraising schedule
o Manage finance staff and interns
o Supervise daily check collection, deposit, and financial report
o Ensure that all fundraising activities are in full compliance with
the New York City campaign finance laws
