Christie and Booker to hit the streets

Two political rivals, the stars of their respective parties and potentially contestants in the 2013 governor’s race, Gov.-elect Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Cory Booker plan to take to Newark’s streets tonight as allies in the crime war.

According to a press release issued this morning, Christie and Booker will join volunteers and off-duty police officers as part of Community Caravan Night Patrols.

Booker’s a regular on night patrol, where the objective, according to the release, “is to disrupt normal crime patterns and to get the local community engaged in the crime prevention process.” Christie and Booker to hit the streets
