Georgia Rep. John Lewis weighs in on NJ gay marriage

U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) issued a five paragraph statement today in support of New Jersey’s marriage equality legislation.

“I have fought too long and too hard against discrimination based on race and color not to stand up and fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation,” said Lewis, an integral player in the civil rights movement of the 1960s.

“Today the state of New Jersey has a chance to stand on the right side of history, on the right side of justice, and on the right side of the peace,” said Lewis. ” Georgia Rep. John Lewis weighs in on NJ gay marriage
