Fargo didn’t get enough votes to have his nomination released when the panel met on November 23, causing the Senator from Sanzari to lose control, declaring: “That’s bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.” Sarlo will ask the committee to again consider Fargo, who is the Chief Financial Officer of the town where the double-dipping Sarlo is Mayor.
Fargo is now the Business Administrator of the Hudson County Schools of Technology, the CFO of Wood-Ridge, the Woodridge schools treasurer, and a member of the Hudson County Board of Taxation. It appears that he has four government jobs and participates in two pension systems.
Usually when a nominee gets voted down by the Judiciary Committee, the Governor goes back and finds someone else.
Fargo worked in the Jersey City Finance Department until 2000, when he took a $65,000 buyout to take a new job with then-Union City Mayor Rudy Garcia. But Garcia had his own problems, and when he was forced out of office soon after (and replaced by Brian Stack, who abstained), Fargo found himself out of a job. He tried to go back to Jersey City, but the state Local Finance Board, which was monitoring Jersey City’s finances back then, would not approve his hiring.
