NJN will air marriage equality debate live

The New Jersey Network (NJN) will provide live coverage of the New Jersey State Senate debate and vote on S-1967, which would legalize same sex marriage in New Jersey.  Coverage will be online at njn.net and broadcast on NJN2.  The Senate is expected to convene and begin debate on Thursday, December 7, at 2 pm.

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the “The Freedom of Religion and Equality in Civil Marriage Act” in December.  If the Senate passes it, Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts says he will post the bill for an immediate vote in the lower house.  Gov. Jon Corzine, who leaves office on January 19, says he would sign the bill into law; Gov.-elect Christopher Christie has said he opposes same sex marriage.
