State Sen. Kevin O’Toole (R-Cedar Grove) today heralded Gov. Chris Christie’s pick to run the Department of Community Affairs (DCA), describing attorney Lori Grifa of Montclair as an out-of-the-box choice.
“Usually the DCA commissioner is an insider – an elected official like Joe Doria (former Gov. Jon Corzine’s director, a former Bayonne mayor and state senator), and so this is an unconventional pick – but an exceptional pick,” said O’Toole.
Asked if he foresees any difficulty in signing off on Grifa, the Essex County Republican said, “No.”
Former chief of staff to New Jersey Attorney General David Samson, Grifa is also former special assistant district attorney in the Homicide Investigation Unit of the New York County District Attorney’s Office, and a senior assistant district attorney in the Office of the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney.
