Panel recommends extra $44M to four cities

Voting along party lines, the Legislature’s Joint Budget Oversight Committee today recommended an extra $44 million distribution to distressed cities.  Gov.-elect Christopher Christie, who takes office next week, said earlier this month that cities cannot assume any state aid when planning their next budget.  The Local Finance Board is expected to vote on Wednesday on the plan, which will send $67 million to Camden, $27 million to Paterson, $14 million to Jersey City, and $2.5 million to Bridgeton — a total of $117.4 million.
