Shaw died of valium overdose

Hudson County political consultant Jack Shaw, who died five days after being arrested in the massive July corruption sweep, was killed by a valium overdose, the Jersey Journal reports.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio told the paper that the autopsy could not conclude whether Shaw’s death was a suicide or an accident.

Shaw was fond dead in his downtown Jersey City apartment complex on July 28, where several open pill bottles were discovered near his body.

Shaw was a central player in many of the corruption cases that stemmed from the bust, having acted as a middleman between FBI informant Solomon Dwek and many of the political figures he allegedly bribed.
