Today in DVR: Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day is one of those movies where it’s fun to imagine how the pitch meeting might have gone down: “Uh, so there’s this guy, see, and he’s in Punxsutawney for Groundhog’s Day, and he keeps living the same day over and over and over again till he gets the day right. So he tries to kill himself with a toaster in the bathtub or jumping off a building or even letting a groundhog drive a truck (angry).” But we’re guessing once they said, “Starring Bill Murray,” it was a done deal because, forget about Wes Anderson for a second: Mr. Murray is pitch-perfect in this one. And Andie MacDowell even isn’t too annoying! Trivia: Did you know that New York has it’s own version of Punxsutawney Phil, and it’s Staten Island Chuck? [TV Land, 9 p.m.]
