Van Pelt to be arraigned today

Former Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt (R-Ocean Twp.) will appear before a federal judge in Trenton today.

Van Pelt, who is charged with accepting $10,000 in bribes from a federal informant in exchange for help with approval for purported real estate developments, is set to be arraigned at 11am at the Fisher Federal Building and Courthouse before U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano.

Van Pelt resigned his assembly seat eight days after he was arrested in a massive FBI corruption and money laundering bust that netted 44 public officials, politicians and religious leaders.
