Weinstein will return to state government

Gov.-elect Christopher Christie is expected to announce the nomination of James Weinstein as Executive Director of New Jersey Transit.  This will mark a return to state government for Weinstein, a 63-year-old former newspaper reporter who served as state Transportation Commissioner from 1998 to 2002.  Weinstein served as Chief of Staff at the DOT during the Kean administration and headed Kean’s authorities unit.  The new Commissioner of Transportation is James Simpson, the former Federal Transit Administrator who served asCommissioner of the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
