When Chuck Schumer rolled past one of the parties this summer he decided to check it out. “Schumer, a Brooklyn native who attended two of the Pool Parties this past summer, was struck by the quality and popularity of the concerts and the enthusiasm of the crowd,” reads a press release announcing the senior senator has helped negotiate a memorandum of understanding, which should pave the wave for another series this summer.

“We are grateful that Sen. Schumer has taken an interest in the Williamsburg Waterfront Shows,” said Steve Hindy, owner of the Brooklyn Brewery and chairman of North Brooklyn’s Open Space Alliance, which helps organize the shows.

“Summer in Brooklyn without the free JELLY Pool Parties simply would not have been the same and I am beyond thrilled to see that they will return in 2010,” Schumer said. “I can’t wait to ride my bike this summer to the East River State Park to rock out at these concerts once again.”
