Google Introduces Unimpressive Feature, Yahoo Reminds Us It Already Had That Unimpressive Feature

Google has unveiled a new feature intended supposedly to kill Twitter: “Google Buzz,” which allows users to share links, locations, and comments. So. Take that, Twitter (and Facebook, and Foursquare)!

But Yahoo would like you to know that they had this idea too, and they did it–like, a long time ago. In a letter to Silicon Alley Insider, the company wrote:

It’s been almost a year and a half since we first launched Yahoo! Updates – a social feature that lets people share their status, content and online activities and stay connected to what their friends and family are doing on Yahoo! and across the Web

S.A.I., for one, is disappointed in Google: “Late, Boring, and Lame,” they declared after today’s announcement.
