Gov. Jon Corzine denies that actor Alec Baldwin ever sought a meeting with him to discuss nuclear power, according to his aide, Josh Zeitz.
In a speech to Fordham University students, Baldwin accused Corzine of standing him up twice.
“He ran chicken shit from this issue,” Baldwin said.
“Gov. Corzine was puzzled by Alec Baldwin’s claim that he somehow ‘stood up’ the actor. He asked me to review our phone logs from the governor’s office. After a careful and thorough review of those logs, I can confirm that Mr. Baldwin never called or tried to schedule a meeting with Gov. Corzine,” Zeitz said.
Zeitz said he was puzzled by Baldwin’s attack on the former governor, but suggested that a controversial phone call to his daughter is evidence of Baldwin’s “long track record of bizarre behavior.”
“That observation aside, we at the Corzine transition team remain great fans of ‘30 Rock’ and wish Mr. Baldwin well in his many endeavors,” said Zeitz.
