ALBANY–Harold Ford Jr. flew from Washington to Albany today, checked into the Crowne Plaza hotel–where most of the conference attendees were staying–and later quietly entered The Egg to give his keynote speech.
Appearing late in the weekend hasn’t been entirely well-received, and some supporters of Kirsten Gillibrand said Ford missed an opportunity this weekend to ingraciate himself with some of the Democratic establishment.
Keith Wright, the Democratic County Leader of New York, said if Ford plans to run for Senate, he should have started well before this weekend.
“It’s about relationships,” Wright told reporters, “and you just don’t form relationships with New Yorkers in a matter of six months.”
Wright said, “It’s about relationships and that puts him a little behind the starting gate.”
