Lautenberg spokesman: bleeding ulcer caused fall

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-Cliffside Park) was diagnosed this morning with a bleeding ulcer and has undergone a successful endoscopy to treat it, according to his office.

The condition made Lautenberg lightheaded and caused his fall yesterday, spokesman Caley Gray said.  He was taken to a hospital from his Cliffside Park high rise condominium building last night.

“The Senator is expected to make a full recovery and will be back to work soon,” said spokesman Caley Gray.

Gray said that Lautenberg remains in “good spirits,” although it is so far unclear when he will be released from the hospital.
