Middlesex GOP chairman suggests a Democratic mayor as Republican Senate candidate

Middlesex County GOP Chairman Joseph Leo is a little out of it: one of the names he mentioned as possible State Senate candidates was Cranbury Mayor David Stout, who happens to be a Democrat.  Another candidate Leo mentioned was Brian Hackett, a 22-year-old college student who must age eight more years before he reaches the minimum age to serve in the State Senate, as set by the New Jersey Constitution.  Leo is not seeking re-election as County Chairman in June and is expected to be replaced by one of his predecessors, Assemblyman Samuel Thompson (R-Old Bridge).
