In anticipation of Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono’s (D-Metuchen) hearing next week into the operations of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA), U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) wrote a letter to Buono urging intense eyeballing of the authority’s promotion and ticketing services contracts with Live Nation Entertainment.
“I have recently written to the chairman of Live Nation Entertainment to request that they voluntarily make the details of their contracts with the authority available,” wrote Pascrell.
To no avail.
“Such public scrutiny is in the interest of transparency and accountability, especially in the wake of Live Nation Entertainment’s commitment to the Department of Justice as a result of the merger between Ticketmaster and Live Nation,” Pascrell said. “The citizens of New Jersey have a right to examine the details of these contracts to determine whether or not taxpayers are getting a fair deal for their money.”
In the Feb. 24th letter, th congressman asks Buono to call on the chairman of Live Nation Entertainment, Irving Azoff, to testify next Wednesday at Buono’s Legislative Oversight Committee.
