Paybacks are tough

Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing) continues to be punished for running for Assembly Speaker: she was not included on a list of 22 legislators who will serve on the Democratic leadership team.  Nearly half the Democrats in the Assembly (47%) hold a leadership post.  Watson Coleman, who served four years as Majority Leader and four as Democratic State Chairman, is one of just six Assembly Democrats not to serve as chair or vice chair of a committee; of the six, three are freshman and another is Anthony Chiappone (D-Bayonne), who is under indictment on state corruption charges and was not assigned to any committees.

In the Senate, former Senate President and Governor Richard Codey (D-Roseland), the Democratic Senator with the most seniority, was not offered a committee chair or vice chair.  Donald Norcross (D-Camden), who has been a Senator for two weeks, is vice chair of both committees he sits on.
