Platt under fire for being AWOL during snowstorm

Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt is no Michael Bilandic.  The post-Richard Daley 1970’s mayor of Chicago lost his job after residents blamed his inaction on the city shutting down after a major blizzard.  The difference is that Platt wasn’t anywhere near his town when the snow hit.  Platt has spent several weeks in Florida on a winter vacation and missed two snowstorms that have hit South Jersey.  Now the latest controversy is over his chief of staff, Dan Keashen, who allegedly lied to the Courier-Post about Platt’s whereabouts.  First Keashen told a reporter that Platt was on a snowplow, and then underestimated the amount of time the mayor was in Florida.  Keashen has told the Courier-Post that he “misspoke.”  Camden County Republicans, rejuvenated by the election of a GOP governor and the prospects of winning back the District 3 congressional seat, are calling for the rolling of heads.
