3.20.10 Putz of the Week and Mensch of The Week
It is not too often that I have designated a Democrat as the Putz of the Week and a Republican as the Mench of The Week, but here goes. Since it is a weekend and the first day of spring, I will be quick.
At least 15% of the population is completely uninsured, and a substantial additional portion of the population is “underinsured“. However, Congressman John Adler is going to join Republicans Scott Garrett, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Mike Pence in voting against the healthcare bill. While the bill is far from perfect, it is the best effort we have on the table to address this issue.
John Adler has generally been a good guy—when he was in the State Senate he could be could be counted on for critical thought on all issues. However, here he is clearly in the wrong.
This week for his wrong vote on the healthcare bill, Congressman John Adler, is our Putz of The Week.
Assemblyman Jon Bramnick is the Republican Conference Leader in the Assembly, and we sometimes disagree on core issues that impact New Jersey. However, he is one of the most reasonable Republicans in the Assembly (to his credit Americans for Prosperity’s Steve Lonegan recently gave him an “F” rating).
This week Jon (the Funniest Lawyer in New Jersey) donated his time and comedy talent to help raise money for Elijah’s Promise, which feeds thousands of people each year in New Jersey. He is a true mensch—and a very funny one at that.
So, this week Assemblyman Jon Bramnick is our Mensch of The Week.
