Camden GOP backs Runyan for Congress

Republican congressional candidate Jon Runyan has won the endorsements of Camden County GOP Chairman Rick DeMichele and Cherry Hill Republican Municipal Chairman Rich Ambrosino, giving the former NFL star the organization lines in Camden, Burlington and Ocean counties.  Runyan, 36, will formally announce his candidacy to challenge freshman U.S. Rep. John Adler (D-Cherry Hill) tomorrow evening.

“Jon is not a professional politician,” said DeMichele.  “He’s authentic, honest and willing to do the hard work necessary to be a great candidate and a terrific Congressman.  I enjoyed watching him on the football field on Sundays for years, but I will enjoy watching him beat John Adler in November even more.  I enthusiastically endorse his candidacy and the party stands ready to do whatever we can to help him be successful.”

Runyan said he has no plans to concede Cherry Hill to Adler, a former councilman who spent seventeen years in the State Senate before his election to Congress in 2008.

“A united Republican Party is essential to defeating John Adler and ending his 20-plus year career of higher taxes, more spending and skyrocketing debt both in Trenton and Washington, DC,” said Runyan. Camden GOP backs Runyan for Congress
