Harold Ford Jr. was reportedly set to meet the Independence Party’s state chairman Frank MacKay on March 3 to discuss running on the party’s line for U.S. Senate.
Which is quite a turnaround from how Ford felt about the party two weeks ago. After a speech in Albany on Valentine’s Day, Ford was approached by Independence Party members Lenora Fulani and Cathy Stewart in Albany.
I asked Ford’s spokesperson if he would consider running on their line.
“It is not something he has ever considered,” Ford spokeswoman Tammy Sun told me on February 23. “Harold Ford is a life-long Democrat who is focused solely on making a serious decision about whether to run for Senate in New York as a Democrat.”
