As any savvy cultural consumer knows, art comes in many shapes and sizes. Red Bull’s The Art of Can exhibition, which kicks off tomorrow in Miami’s South Beach, puts that maxim to the test. While many of the works on display are made from actual Red Bull cans—often flattened and deconstructed within an inch of recognition—the only real requirement of submissions is that the artists find inspiration in Red Bull, and that they make full use of their imagination.
We’re not kidding. Highlights from last year’s event—this’ll be the ninth annual—include a spectacular dragon sculpture soaring above the clouds, a six-foot-tall knight in shining armor, a glittering floor-length ballroom gown, and—last but certainly not least—a glowing, six-foot-tall beehive complete with a colony of swarming bees. In other words, prepare to be entertained. And, of course, come thirsty.
