As U.S. Rep. John Adler (D-Cherry Hill) seeks to become the first Democrat to win re-election in his district since Nathan Stratton (D-Swedesboro) won a second term in 1852, he is counting on a veteran of Democratic campaigns: his new campaign manager, Geoff Mackler. Last cycle, Geoff worked at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Independent Expenditure office. He was in charge of strategy (polling, mail, media, radio, field coordination) for ten congressional campaigns, including challengers Jim Himes, who neat Christopher Shays in Connecticut, and Mike McMahon, who won a Republican open seat in New York. He spent six years at MSHC, a direct mail firm, and has worked on campaigns in Massachusetts, Michigan and Texas.
In 2008, Adler became the first Democrat to win that House seat since Thomas Ferrell (D-Glassboro) unseated two term incumbent George Robeson (R-Camden) in 1884.
