Another member of the Frank Hague Alumni Association loses a school board race

Former Mayors of Jersey City running for the school board have now lost in two consecutive elections.  Anthony Cucci, who was mayor from 1985 to 1989, was defeated in his bid for re-election to the Jersey City Board of Education in 2009.  Gerald McCann, who was ousted by Cucci in 1985 and then beat him in 1989, lost his re-election bid to a school board seat by a wide margin yesterday.

Another ex-Jersey City Mayor, Bret Schundler, who became mayor following McCann’s criminal conviction in 1992, is now the state Commissioner of Education.
