Bateman vows GOP Primary against Smith

Republican businessman Alan Bateman just told he is prepared to file to run today against U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-Hamilton) in the 4th Congressional District before the 4 p.m. deadline. 

If his people haven’t already filed, he added at 11:45 p.m.

Bateman spokesman Corey Maness pushes his chair back across the carpet at 12:15 p.m.

“We just filed,” he says. “395 signatures.”

Incumbent Smith has filed 720 petition signatures with the Division of Elections.

Howard Kleinhendler of Lakewood, running with the backing of the regular Democrats, filed to run against Smith in the general election with 332 petition signatures. Bateman vows GOP Primary against Smith
