Democratic attorney general candidate Sean Coffey tells supporters he and his wife are investing their money into their campaign “with you.” Which is one way to put it.
Here’s his letter to supporters:
I am deeply grateful to you for your generosity over the last six months of my campaign. Together, we have clearly demonstrated our fundraising prowess. I am encouraged, enthused and inspired not just by the level of support my campaign has received – but also by the diversity of that support.
I want you to be among the first to hear from me today as I make an important announcement. After serious consideration, my wife Anne and I have decided to co-invest with you in our effort to win this campaign for Attorney General. We are committing $2 million to ensure that our message of reform and personal accountability in government reaches voters of New York in every part of the state. I believe, as I know you do, that if we can effectively communicate our message – we will win the primary in September.
Right now is a critical time in the campaign. I have spent a lifetime building a record of service and am not a career politician. This means I have to work longer and smarter to ensure New Yorkers know that I am the best candidate for Attorney General – the one who will fight hardest against political corruption, hold people on Wall Street accountable when they break the law, and protect worker’s rights.
Your early commitment has been invaluable in helping to lay the groundwork for bringing our agenda of reform and change to our currently corrupt and mismanaged state government. This latest investment is my commitment to you – and all the people of New York.
Will you continue to stand with me as I take on this fight on behalf of all New Yorkers? I cannot do this alone. I need you. Let’s continue the momentum and success of the past six months by raising an additional $50,000 in the next 48 hours. I ask that you consider making an additional online contribution of $5, $25, $100, $500 or $1,000 through my website at www.coffey2010.com/contribute. Every dollar counts. No contribution is too small.
Together, we will bring integrity, accountability and results back to Albany and get government working for you again.
