Our daily roundup of the most notable high-end residential transactions from the past 24 hours.
— Harry Belafonte‘s son, David, and his Danish model bride, Malena, sold their apartment at 425 West End Avenue for $1.275 million to internist Dr. Jonathan Sadeh. The “King of Calypso”‘s son is a Grammy-nominated producer and former model. The apartment, listed with Corcoran’s Christopher J. Infante, has “grand entertaining spaces,” a wood-burning fireplace and tall, “sunlight streaming” windows. It is a three-bedroom (though one bedroom is currently used as a dining room), but the listing suggests it can be combined with the neighboring unit to make a nine-room super-combo.
— Alan L. Stein, a former partner at Goldman Sachs, bought a $2 million apartment at the Chatham at 181 East 65th Street from Shahrzad Khayami, founder and manager of AnK Capital, an investment advisory firm. The high-floor apartment in the “rarely available” luxury condominium was listed by Sotheby’s Oliver Brown.
— Stuart Rekant, CEO of the Juniper Content Corporation, and his wife, Stribling agent Patricia M. Weeks, sold their 880 Fifth Avenue apartment to orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Haar for $3.55 million. The “elegant and sophisticated” six-room apartment (it was converted from an original seven rooms) has “glorious” views of Central Park, and was listed by fellow Stribling agent Shel Joblin.
