A spokesman for Democrat-turned-Republican Steve Levy is out with a statement saying he won’t be supporting Democratic State Senator Brian Foley for re-election.
The spokesman also announced Levy will be “fighting to create a Republican Senate,” something Levy carefully avoided discussing when he switched parties and announced his candidacy for governor.
Foley is a Democrat in Suffolk in a district that had been represented for decades by a Republican. He’s now being challenged by Republican Lee Zeldin.
Interestingly, Levy takes a shot at his rival, Rick Lazio–who has the support from a number of state senators–for wanting to “abolish” the State Senate. Lazio has called for creating a unicameral legislature, rather than the bi-cameral house we currently have.
And that’s where laws are made, right Bill?
