MoMA just sent out a press release announcing the artists whose work will be exhibited in P.S.1’s upcoming Greater New York show, which opens May 23rd. There’s a total of 69 artists– down substantially from the 150 or so who were in the 2005 show. The selection process was described by P.S.1 curatorial advisor Neville Wakefield as a collaboration between him, P.S.1 director Klaus Biesenbach, and MoMA chief curator of drawings Connie Butler. Mr. Wakefield told The Observer back in March that the process allowed all three curators to nudge a personal favorite into the show but not to block anyone else’s. Initially the trio made all their studio visits as a unit but quickly realized that it was not an effective use of their time and split up.
The full list after the jump. Delightfully, the Delusional Downtown Divas are on it!
