Earlier today, Attorney General Eric Holder told a Senate panel that he still wasn’t certain where the trial of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed would take place.
Who knows? said the Attorney General. It might even happen where he had originally decided. “New York is not off the table,” he told the panel, despite the vehement protestations of Lower Manhattan and almost all of New York’s elected officials.
But Senator Chuck Schumer–despite the fact he seems to have won on this one, and the trial will almost surely be somewhere else–won’t even let Mr. Holder save a little face. “We know the administration is not going to hold the trial in New York,” he emailed through a spokesman. “They should just say it already.”
