Comedians have a reputation for being dark, bitter and angry. And that’s exactly why their advice in You’re a Horrible Person, But I Like You: The Believer Book of Advice is so entertaining to read.

The book, presented by The Believer, features all sorts of guidance from 45 comedians, actors, writers and directors, giving hilarious answers to written-in questions. Zach Galifianakis instructs a person working at a meaningless job to “model your life after the movie Sideways, but instead of wine make your passion Mountain Dew”; Fred Armisen tells a struggling drug addict to “replace your addiction with another (gambling, alcohol, rage, etc.)”; and to a query as to the difference between stalking and being romantically attentive, Janeane Garofalo advises, “It all depends on how good-looking you are.” Good advice? No. Fun reading material? Yes.
