The news came yesterday afternoon that Campbell Brown will be leaving her contract with CNN early.
“The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else,” Ms. Brown wrote in a statement. “CNN will have to figure out what that is.”
Ms. Brown also wrote that she misses reading Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon to her two young sons, ages one and two.
In her 8 p.m. slot, Ms. Brown consistently lost out to Keith Olbermann, Bill O’Reilly and Nancy Grace on CNN’s sister network Headline News. She was decidedly less opinionated than her competition at that hour.
Mr. O’Reilly regularly had five times as many viewers on FOX News as Ms. Campbell had on CNN.
