New York Gallery Week, a four-day long event, begins today: 50 of the city’s galleries will be offering extended hours, and in many cases, free booze. But Gallery Week is about more than this! Gallery Week is about humanizing the art world.
“You can walk in and participate even if you are not going to buy something,” dealer and Gallery Week organizer Casey Kaplan tells Bloomberg. “We wanted to break the myth that galleries are unfriendly places. We are sweet and loving.”
