A spokesman for the New York State Republican chairman is holding firm, and trying to brush off the implication of the Conservative Party moving up the deate of their convention.
“The Republican Party is going to make its own decisions, regardless of any choices or maneuvers made by outside organizations,” said GOP spokesman Alex Carey.
The State GOP Chairman, Ed Cox, is backing Steve Levy [clarified]. Conservatives Party leaders are backing Rick Lazio, and the rescheduling of the Conservative Party’s convention is an attempt for Conservatives to pressure the GOP into backing Lazio.
No Republican has won statewide without support from the Conservative Party in, well, a really long time.
