After the New Jersey Laborers Union advised Bergen County Executive Dennis C. McNerney that they would endorse his Republican opponent, County Clerk Kathleen Donovan, sources say that there was tremendous political pressure placed upon several union officials, including Vice-President and Eastern Regional Manager Raymond Pocino and Director of Business Development for the Eastern Region Maggie Moran, to reverse the decision. This endorsement is a blow to the Bergen County Democratic Organization, who cannot possibly spin the decision of a major player in the Democratic Party to endorse the GOP candidate as anything but harmful to McNerney’s bid for a third term.
