The Star-Ledger has endorsed Cory Booker for a second term as the mayor of Newark. “Booker is among the most talented political leaders in the state. He has earned another four years. And if he keeps it up, he could be a top contender for higher office next, perhaps even as governor,” the newspaper wrote. Click here to read the endorsement. This will make the Star-Ledger 1-1 over the last seven months.
Most daily newspapers passed on endorsing candidates in tomorrow’s non-partisan municipal elections, where voters in 33 towns will elect mayors and councilmen. The Herald News/The Record endorsed Jeffrey Jones for mayor of Paterson against incumbent Joey Torres, but simply reminded Clifton residents to vote. The Star-Ledger did not pick a horse in the race for mayor of West Orange, nor did the Trenton Times, Jersey Journal and the Asbury Park Press in key mayoral races in Trenton, Bayonne, and Long Branch, respectively.
The West Orange Chronicle endorsed John Schmidt for mayor. Schmidt faces Councilman Rob Parisi for the job being vacated by the three-term incumbent, John McKeon. Click here to read the endorsement.
