While deadlines always seem flexible in New Jersey, if Gov. Christopher Christie is to nominate Associate Justice John Wallace for a tenured term on the New Jersey Supreme Court, he needs to do it before Thursday. The Senate Judiciary Committee has a meeting on May 13, and there is a requirement that notice of a judicial nomination be submitted seven days in advance. While the Senate can be somewhat flexible in their scheduling, May 6 might be the deadline. The Senate has a voting session scheduled for May 20. There is no holdover status for judges. Wallace’s term expires on May 22.
