Low voter turnout permeates Bloomfield, where incumbent Mayor Ray McCarty runs as the line A candidate in the Democratic Primary.
“It’s light, and light goes for the incumbent,” McCarthy told PolitickerNJ.com. “Of course, I expect everyone to come later – int he 3:30 to 8 p.m. range – but we knocked on every door we could possibly knock.
The challanger, Councilwoman Pat Spychala, reported the same results from her end of the Essex County town that bumps up against North Newark.
“It’s very low turnout, but we’re holding our own,” Spychala said. “I’m keeping a positive outlook. We ran the race, and we’re near the finish line.”
