The Observer Hires New Politics Writer

The Observer has a new politics writer.

David Freedlander, currently the managing editor of City Hall and The Capitol, starts July 8.

According to Observer editor Kyle Pope, Freedlander will blog aggressively about politics for Observer.com, and will join staff writer Reid Pillifant in covering state and local politics.

“David Freedlander knows New York politics cold,” Pope said. “As we prepare our coverage for some particularly juicy fall races, we’re thrilled to add him to the team.”
