According to The East Hampton Star local business was so good this Memorial Day Weekend that one “anonymous” Hamptons bartender ran out of Citron vodka and had to scramble to three different liquor stores before finally falling upon one bottle left in stock.

As East End revelers prepare for the second weekend of “the season,” South Fork towns announced a surprisingly lucrative Memorial Day weekend. “Memorial Day historically is not the best, but this was particularly good,” reported the Montauk Chamber of Commerce, adding that hotels were almost at full capacity.

East Hampton Chamber of Commerce executive director Marina Van told The Star: “The stores on Newtown Lane were packed. This is a nice weekend in their pocket right now.”

Boathouse restaurant manager Rory Boothby agreed: “It was really an outstanding start to a blockbuster summer […] Every night it was packed, the fireplace was roaring, and the bottles were popping.”
