Senator Chuck Schumer wasted no time in raising money off some recent Republican primaries.
“The most radical Republicans have already won primaries- from Rand Paul in Kentucky to Carly Fiorina in California,” Schumer wrote in a statement emailed by the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee this morning. (It comes a day and a half after Ms. Fiorina won in California, and a day after she was caught on a live mike making fun of her opponent’s hair.) “And national Republicans are setting their sights on Democratic incumbents like Barbara Boxer in California and Patty Murray in Washington.”
He also invoked the disastrous-for-Democrats 1994 midterms, when the Contract With America swept Republicans to a House majority. “The Republicans want to make 2010 the next 1994. With you on our side, they don’t stand a chance,” he wrote.
Schumer said the “DSCC grassroots know how to win. We proved that in 2006 and 2008,” which happen to be the two cycles when Schumer chaired the committee.
