Stack’s statement on rejecting HCDO chairmanship

State Sen. and Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack moments ago issued a formal statement on his decision not to pursue the chairmanship of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO).

While I would have enjoyed certain aspects of leading the organization, such as addressing the concerns of constituents throughout the County, to take on such a role at this current point in time would interfere with my mission of working to advance the quality of life for the residents of Union City and the 33rd Legislative District,” said Stack.

I remain committed to working seven days a week for the residents of both the city and district. I am honored by the outpouring of encouragement that was offered by many to assume the Chairmanship, but I wish to remain focused solely on the duties I was elected to perform.”

With Stack out, Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith is poised to become the next HCDO chairman, succeeding Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy.
