Mayor Bloomberg headed up to News Corp headquarters this morning to talk on Fox and Friends with Fox owner Rupert Murdoch to announce his new coalition to press for national immigration reform.
The aim of the coalition is to press the economic argument for immigration reform, and the mayor has recruited a large set of CEOs to join him.
In addition to Murdoch, the coalition–dubbed Partnership for a New American Economy–includes Boeing chairman Jim McNerney, Disney CEO Robert Iger, HP chairman Mark Hurd, and Daily News publisher Mort Zuckerman, among others.
Immigration was one of the early agenda items Bloomberg said he’d push in his third term, and it offers him a national stage on a contentious issue.
Here’s the mayor with Murdoch this morning.
