Beware of the Hotel Burglars

Late last week, the Midtown North police precinct detected a pattern in burglaries within several Midtown hotels. A woman and a man allegedly sneaked into three midtown hotels and swiped valuables from hotel guests.

On Thursday, July 15, around 7:30 p.m. the couple lifted a high-end watch from a guest at the Sheraton. Then, on Tuesday July 20, they struck again at the Plaza around 4 p.m. and took another expensive watch. The next day they entered the Intercontinental Hotel around 8 p.m. and stole a purse containing cash and a phone.

The suspects have a strategy. According to police, they follow victims back to their hotel rooms. The male suspect then knocks on the door and enters under the guise of a hotel employee, there to fix an applience. Once inside, he pockets personal items.

The male burglar is described to be in his 40s, 5’8″, and 200 pounds. His female accomplice is reportedly in her 50s, 5’4″ and 150 pounds.
