David Remnick is not (NOT) writing his memoirs. MarketWatch’s Jon Friedman learned this the hard way—by asking him, and being shamed:
Suddenly thinking I might be on to something and hoping I’d get a scoop, I asked him if he planned to write his memoirs someday.
Remnick looked mortified.
“God forbid! Jesus! God almighty,” he said.
Remnick explained that he loathed how self-indulgent memoir writers can lapse into egotistical strolls down memory lane.
Also, Remnick finds that journalists’ memoirs have a structure that is “not pleasing.” But we’re sure enough coffee could change that!
