De Blasio Backs Espaillat in 31st

New York Public Advocate Bill de Blasio seems to be building his cache of political allies.

On Tuesday, Mr. de Blasio endorsed Adriano Espaillait for state senator, a longtime assemblyman vying for the open seat against Mark Levine, a community activist and darling to the stars.

Mr. Blasio, who is widely expected to make a run for mayor in 2013, joins Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., Congressman Eliot Engel and New York State and City Comptrollers Thomas DiNapoli and John Liu in voicing support for Mr. Espaillat.

All he needs now is an endorsement from Andrew Cuomo to make yesterday’s news go away.
