U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-Cliffside Park) is alive and well today despite an email report to the contrary.
Capitol Police are reportedly investigating a hoax email sent to various news outlets announcing the 86-year old senator’s death along with the passing of Democratic Sens. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Dianne Feinstein of California.
The email was designed to look like it came from senate staffers and reports were apparently continuing to circulate on Twitter and elsewhere hours after the rumor had been debunked.
Lautenberg recently annouced that he was cancer-free after a bout with lymphoma.
