Liz Jones is Basically Joan Didion

In a conversation with The Independent, Jezebel antagonist and professional sourpuss Liz Jones weighs in on the ethics of journalism:

“All writers betray people.” Not necessarily, I say. “It’s a tricky one,” she says. We leave it at that.

This calls to mind the words of another nonfiction grande dame!

“Writers are always selling somebody out.”

Or perhaps:

“He is a kind of confidence man… Journalists justify their treachery in various ways according to their temperaments.”

We guess Liz Jones aspires to an illustrious peer group. But we’re not sure that piece about how American women are stupid was really her Slouching Towards Bethlehem.
